Small Roof-Top Wind Turbines

Building Turbines

Building Turbines, LLC is an Austin-based start-up company focusing on designing and manufacturing
revolutionary wind turbines, for generating electricity. Building Turbines (BT) builds horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWT) for roof-top installation on commercial buildings with flat roofs. BT’s unique and patented design takes advantage of what is called a ‘parapet vortex’ which naturally occurs as wind accelerates up the side of a building and crests over the roof top. The innovative turbine design utilizes the air rotation from this vortex resulting in the generation of electric power. There is a working prototype that is installed on the Building Turbines headquarters building on N. Lamar Blvd. in Austin, Texas.
